Lost phone numbers

This isn't really a travel update, but because anyone who's number I need reads this I'll post it here. I lost everyone's phone number, some sort of problem that made me erase everything. If everyone could text me their name that would be helpful.

Also, having fun in New Orleans.

The Lost City of Atlanta

Downtown

I got to downtown Atlanta from the subway. I didn't even know Atlanta had subway until I took a walk from my hotel and happened to find it. Here is the train coming.
This is the large escalator to leave the station
A few pictures of the skyline.

Centennial Park was very nice. It was built for the 1996 Olympic games. I'm starting to think that cities like to keep reminders of when the whole world was looking at them.
If you got a medal in the 1996 Olympics, there are records etched in stone to prove it.

The park had lots of these giant torch looking things.

North Atlanta
This is the area my hotel was in. Its a nice part of town, but not that pedestrian friendly. Most of my experience was driving through it, so I don't have many pictures. The buildings all looked either new or historic. This part of town is certainly safe and seemed like the richest area.

East Atlanta
This part of the city reminded me of Grandview, but better. A few areas were even accessible from the subway, so it made it easy to walk around and take pictures So far this is where I would most like to live out of everywhere I've been. Its easy to get in and out of, there are many localized areas where I could walk to eat or drink somewhere, and it looked very nice. It was also so racially integrated you didn't even feel like you were in the south. It was still hot enough to make me feel like I was in the south though.
I just found this ad in the subway station funny.

I ate here.
This page from the menu is not indicative of prices in general. My whole meal and drink was less than all of these beers. It was a very good selection, there were at least 10 more pages of beer choices.
This is the shopping center right as you leave the subway.

West Atlanta
I don't have any pictures of west Atlanta. I didn't dare to stop my care and show off electronics long enough to take any pictures. It was scary and several people did not seem to know where they were. I was told south Atlanta is even worse and did not bother going

Despite the bad parts of town, I really liked Atlanta. It's the first city on my travels I could see myself living in. I could certainly be content with a nice place in East Atlanta. Although it is really hot here. I'm not about to stop my travels, but if I don't find anywhere else I'll be going back to Atlanta.

Charlotte, city of trees

Charlotte has trees. Lots of them. Everywhere. Any decently major road is lined with them on both sides and the divider in the middle. There are entire lots somewhat close to downtown that are still nothing but trees. Instead of privacy fences, there are privacy trees to completely hide residential areas from the road. Even downtown has trees lining every road. It makes the city look very nice.

Unfortunately, the city also felt very monotonous. Everything had the same feel. Every tree lined road looked the same. After driving through most of the city, I never really found a district that looked unique. The city is also terribly unfriendly for pedestrians. To get from any house to any store it seemed like you needed to cross a 4 lane divided road where people go 45mph. The large number of trees also make the city a little too spread out. Charlotte takes up at least twice as much area as it needs to.

I have pictures of a garden at UNC in Charlotte and downtown.
